Just hitting stores, Senses Fail's debut album, “Let It Enfold You”, is likely to be a hit. They have received a lot of attention this past year, after the leaving of Drive Thru Records and joining forces with Vagrant. People have their own opinions about this band, good and bad. The only bad opinion that I tend to hear the constant griping about how Senses Fail are nothing but egotistical “rock stars”, in need of a reality check. This in my opinion is most likely because of their quickness to fame and success. But wouldn’t you be too if it was your long awaited album that just finally hit stores and everyone was running out to get? While having the privilege of performing live on “Fuse”, while every kid there screaming for an autograph after, they rushed to buy your latest release? Not to be pushy but right now, with people I’ve talked to, this CD is a lot of hype, and I know I ran out to buy it. Which I am not disappointed with. Money well spent, if you ask me. “Let It Enfold You", is going to be a hit I am sure.
This CD I believe is a great follow up to their previous EP, “In Depths of Dreams”. Basically, the words I used to describe this CD is, "passionately violent". The CD starts you off with the song, “Tie Her Down”, which sets the mood for the CD right away. Their song, “Buried A Lie”, is already receiving some hype. This song basically tells a fictional story about a guy digging up a dead girl. He then performs an autopsy to find the cause of death, because the gentleman in the song believes that it was something more than what was said. “So, Let's play doctor, babe. We’ll operate today. Incisions must be made, you could help solve this case for me.” One of my personal favorites is, “The Irony of Dying on Your Birthday”. Basically, when I listen to this track, I genuinely feel that it talks about leaving your mark so that you are remembered when you die and years after. Only Senses Fail likes to leave their own mark in their songs by leaving some kind of violent twist. Yes, the beginning of the song talks of how we are nothing on this earth. The artist tells of how he wants more, he wants fame and to be a “rock star”. The thing that makes this a Senses Fail song are the last lines of the song, “I’ll attack someone with a switchblade, so that I can see their pain. I choose to be the serial killer, cause the victims don’t get any fame.” So, to wrap this up, this is your typical Senses Fail CD. I’ll admit it does give me urges to go kill certain people, but then again, I think that music is supposed to influence you and have some kind of affect on you. As long as you don’t follow through with the illegal stuff everything will be fine. People know what’s right and wrong. You can always go buy the album and see for yourself? I just told you about the album there are ten other tracks that I didn’t even mention.
Last words: Egotistical or not they make beautiful music together.
