Estrella: Could you please state your name and what you do in the band.
Joe: Joe, I play guitar.
Estrella: Last night, I heard you had a bad time and your things were stolen and I want to know what got taken?
Joe: We got robbed in LA on Warped Tour and everything got taken except for my two computers and then last night, my two computers got taken. I think we were meant to not have anything, I guess.
Estrella: Did they take just the computers?
Joe: It was the computers, my PSP, I thought they took my Ipod but it turns out I was just clumsy and forgot it last night somewhere else and then I found it, so when I felt like I really won a battle there but really I lost two $2,000 dollar computers, that I didn't kind of lost, but no one's counting, so I'm winner. But it was weird because we were by them, then we left for 15 minutes came back, and they were gone. The lock was all broken off, it was lame.
Estrella: How's tour been so far?
Joe: Amazing. So good. This is like our seventh day. It's been so amazing, all the bands Gym Class, Hangar 18, and Cobra Starship are the coolest dudes ever. Normally, these tours are weird because it's like, "Who are these guys?", but these guys are awesome. The show's have been good.
Estrella: Could you describe to me and whoever's reading this, who is Benny? Give a detailed description.
Joe: Benny is America's long lost hero. It's a whale, raised off the East Coast in a small oceanic village, moved to the big city with dreams of becoming a fly girl for J. Lo, accomplished that, and then decided he wanted to be a roadie for Patent Pending. Benny the Whale. Who can be seen this October on the 'Pants Off! Dance Off!'
Estrella: Who would you say some of your influences are?
Joe: I know we've gotten so many influences from like a bajillion people but how about I talk about biggest influences? Or at least a couple of the biggest ones? Andrew W.K., for sure because the party, you know. Green Day, Gym Class, I don't know, everything I listen to, I draw something from. I'm stoked about music in general, so I say everyone.
Estrella: I saw that you're playing CMJ this year and are you stoked?
Joe: Dude, no joke, they said, "We're playing CMJ this year?", so I was like, "We're not playing CMJ this year, that was last year." Then last night, the head of PureVolume comes up to us and was like, "You're playing on CMJ" and I was like, "Oh, diggity!" We were really excited, CMJ's going to be amazing. CMJ's fun because as soon as your show's over, you walk outside, to another show. It's like Bamboozle, only with 120 stages. Scenester, hipster central.
Estrella: It's in New York City, I'll probably get killed.
Joe: You definitely won't get killed in New York City. The only thing that can happen to you is that you get your laptop stolen.
Estrella: I don't have a laptop.
Joe: Well then you're set!
Estrella: Well they might take my cell phone. I heard the robbers took your chargers?
Joe: Dude, the lamest part of the whole thing is in the same bag where the laptops and the expensive stuff are, they took the 7th disc of the Lost boxset, which sucks because I haven't watched it yet and I love Lost and they took Wayne's World II. They took the last two discs of the new Desperate Housewives boxset which I haven't watched yet.
Estrella: Did you see who's playing CMJ?
Joe: Who?
Estrella: Tia Carrere. Cassandra in Wayne's World.
Joe: Excuse me, WHAT?!
Estrella: Yes. She is playing CMJ.
Joe: Can you do me a favor? Do you know how to play bass? Play anything? Have you ever watched people play something? Watch Wayne's World I, watch Tia Carrere play the bass, HILARIOUS! She's not even pretending to play, it's amazing. So good.
Estrella: She has her own myspace.
Joe: What does she play?
Estrella: The songs she plays in Wayne's World are her actual songs or something. Check it out.
Joe: We're going on tour with Zebrahead!
Estrella: Are you excited?
Joe: Very excited.
Estrella: West coast, east coast?
Joe: Whole country, west coast to east coast back to West Coast.
Estrella: When is that starting?
Joe: November.
Estrella: Is this your first time playing Sonar? Do you like it here?
Joe: Yes! I love it here. Did you know there's private bathrooms and showers? So nice. This place is awesome, I like it a lot. There's a Chipotle down the street and I got some cheesecake, it's been a good day.
Estrella: Did you guys play Park Rock festival in Great Mills?
Joe: Lame town/city, this is what happened. We were getting ready to leave, we played Jersey on September 2nd, the 3rd was our date at Park Rock, we leave at like 4 am from Jersey, driving in our car and it started shaking and boucing up and down and we're like, "What the fuck is going on?", car's broken. We didn't make it to Park Rock. We didn't get to play this year.
Estrella: How was it on the Warped Tour?
Joe: Amazing, sweaty, hot, disgusting, and awesome. We didn't play MD or DC.
Estrella: If you were stranded on a desert island and you had three things, what would they be?
Joe: My girlfriend, video Ipod, and bring a never ending case of water.
Estrella: Best Halloween costume you've ever worn.
Joe: 1990-1993 Urkel, before that I was Ninja Turtle, and after that I was Chuck Norris.
Estrella: Bands you're currently into?
Joe: Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, and the best band I've found out about in the last 5 years, Set Your Goals. So good. I lost their CD, so I have to go buy it.
Joe: Any more questions? My favorite New Kid is Danny Wood.
Estrella: Favorite thing about Baltimore.
Joe: Now it's the Cheesecake Factory but before that it was Cal Ripken Jr.
Estrella: Any bands that you'd like to plug
Joe: Stretch Armstrong, The North Atlantic, The Semester, listen to the Semester.
Estrella: Closing statements?
Joe: Don't smoke crack.
