It Won't Snow Where You're Going
Park

[review by Andrew]

Now I have to admit that about a month ago I had never heard of these guys before, probably one of the reasons for this is that this album hasn’t actually been given an official release in the UK. I recently got my hands on this album and now I can’t understand why I’d never heard of these guys before because this album is amazing. Park are a brilliant emo band and "It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going" is the bands second album and this is an album with so much to offer.

The album starts off with the brilliant "Gasoline Kisses For Everyone" which is about lost love and the album just gets better. Next up is the energetic "Day One and Counting" which is a simply breath taking song with as catchy a chorus as you’ll ever hear, lead singer Ladd Mitchel sings “Such simple things I miss, in spit of all of this. Is it even worth to say I’m sorry, just move on”, this is an amazing song and probably my favourite on this album. Things get a bit slower and darker for the next track "Pomona For Empusa", its another shining example of why this band are so special, another great song with really powerful lyrics like “I fall asleep to the sound of my own life, if I drink this bottle fast enough I might get lucky and won’t wake up”. "Conversations With Emily" is another great song with great lyrics that tell a story of missing a former relationship. "Which Wrist First" picks up the tempo again and really showcases how unique Ladd Mitchel’s vocals really are on another great track.

The second half of the album is just as good as the first, its starts of with the bouncy but not any more cheerful "Numerous Murders", containing the lyrics “I’ll cut my throat to make this right and bleed all the words I’ve left inside”. Then there’s “Dear Sweet Impaler” which is another amazing track and another personal favourite of mine and is more of a screamo track that is full of emotion and is further evidence of how great this band are. This album really is full of surprises, just when you thought that there surely can’t be any more songs of such a high standard or that there might be a couple of average songs at the end, "This Would Be Easier If You Would Just Die" comes along. As well as having a great title it is also another superb song that totally kicks ass. Then the album ends on the fantastic "Codex Avellum" which is reminiscent of Taking Back Sunday but by no means are they another copycat act. Park definitely know how to stand out on there own.

This album was just a bolt out the blue for me, and now I’m just surprised that more people don’t know about this band. Park aren’t the most cheerful band you’ll ever hear, a lot of the subject matter on this album is about failed relationships and even a couple of references to suicide. If you can get over that then this album is an absolute must, the lyrics are so powerful, Ladd Mitchel’s vocals are so unique, and the music is simply awesome. It’s almost impossible to put into words how great this album is, I’ve just merely tried.
