Estrella: How did you come up with the band name?
Mike: I wanted to call it something (anything) other than "Mike Kinsella", and I like the way OWEN looks. Not too interesting, huh?
Estrella: Does it mean anything?
Mike: Uh, not really. It sort of fits because it's my "Owen" thing (get it?...).
Estrella: Where are you from?
Mike: I'm from Buffalo Grove, a northwest suburb of chicago.
Estrella: Do you write all of the songs or do you have people to help you?
Mike: Yeah, it's just me. That's probably why they all sound so similar...
Estrella: What's your favorite parts of being Owen?
Mike: I guess I like playing the shows and recording and sitting in my apartment playing the guitar. Which is every part of playing music, right?
Estrella: What is the whole band doing now? (touring, working on a new cd?)
Mike: The whole band is really just me, I just got back from touring for three months with a couple different bands so I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed for a month or so. And hopefully during that time I'll come up with some new songs to record.

Estrella: Who are your influences?
Mike: Hmmm...so many...all the bands I just named, The Sundays, The Smiths, Red House Painters, New Order...
Estrella: What do you like about the fans?
Mike: [Well] This one guy in Austin had a really nice brown sweater that I was going to trade a cd for, but I felt bad taking it because it was so nice.
Estrella: Any words of encouragement or advice?
Mike: Do whatever the fuck you want to do when you want to do it and you won't regret anything later.
