MOROS EROS

January 26, 2007
[interview by Alexa]

Estrella: Could you please state your name and what you do in the band?
Zach: I'm Zach and I play guitar and vocals.

Estrella: How did all of your members meet?
Zach: Through other bands breaking up, just kind of started with two and then we had another band with a different member, then that band broke up and we started another one, then we just ended up all together.

Estrella: Who would you say your influences are as to why you have a band?
Zach: At The Drive In, stuff like that.

Estrella: Could you describe your music to someone who's never heard it?
Zach: Talking Heads and Fugazi.

Estrella: What do you believe you'd be doing if you weren't in a band?
Zach: Actually I was doing something else, I was going to go to Caltech for Astro Physics or Cosmolegy.

Estrella: Since tonight's a huge show, were you even aware you'd be meeting up with labelmates The Forecast?
Zach: Oh yeah, it's kind of weird. I found out about a week ago just randomly looking up stuff online, we played a tour with them before, so it's pretty neat. So we're all really good friends.

Estrella: When it came to signing to Victory, who came to who? Did you go to them or did they come to you?
Zach: I went to them. I said, "We're the band that you guys need" and eventually it just came up to that.

Estrella: You have an upcoming tour with Young Love, what are your thoughts for so far?
Zach: I'm pretty excited for that!

Estrella: Favorite place to play and stay?
Zach: Favorite place to play so far is probably Colorado Springs because people are actually obsessed with us over there for some reason, I don't really know why. My favorite place to stay is probably in Laguna Beach because that's where my mom lives so I just stay there.

Estrella: Sketchiest town you've ever played or stayed in?
Zach: Oklahoma City by far the most sketchiest town I've ever been in. We haven't been to Detroit yet, we'll be there in a couple of weeks so it might change.
Estrella: Any stories about Oklahoma City?
Zach: Just Bobby, our drummer was pissing off some people. We were staying at somebody's apartment complex or whatever and he wouldn't get out of the way and these guys come over and we're like, "Get out of the motherfuckin way!" and they were just going to kick our ass and it was just really scary the entire time.

Estrella: Favorite Halloween costume you've ever worn?
Zach: Favorite Halloween costume? You know what I was a dinosaur when I was 5 and I actually told my mom that I wasn't going out in it because my tail and my dinosaur shirt didn't match and for some reason I was a little OCD when I was younger but the candy was overwhelming, so I went out anyways.

Estrella: Favorite breakfast cereal?
Zach: Captain Crunch.

Estrella: You're on a desert island and you can only take 3 things with you, what would they be?
Zach: I'm going to say my Ipod, probably some of my books, and a coat because it'll probably get really cold on the island.

Estrella: Three bands that you would like to plug into the interview?
Zach: There's a band called The Press who are really good, they're from Atlanta but they moved to NY and then there's a sub pop band called Menomena, that's pretty good, they sound like a mix between TV on the Radio and Wolf Parade and then I'm going to say a band called 31 Knots because they're fucking awesome.

Estrella: Any closing statements?
Zach: Buy our album because we're really poor.
