I Am The Movie
Motion City Soundtrack

[review by Alexa]

Motion City Soundtrack, I'm sure you've heard the band name before and more than likely some of their wonderful music. Their latest release from Epitaph Records, "I am the Movie", which was released on June 24 of this past year has been quite the album. Now, this past summer Motion City Soundtrack was one of the "bands that you should look into" cause they were rumored to be an amazing band. Well, after hearing their full length album and seeing them live I can tell you, there is no such rumor, it's a fact, Motion City Soundtrack is purely amazing. "I am the Movie", I believe is one of the best albums of this past year. It's not like any other album you would be expecting to hear these days. This is one of those great bands that you should definitely listen to. The most well known songs by Motion City, I believe to be are either, "The Future Freaks Me Out" or "My Favorite Accident", both of them are awesome songs and they certainly brighten up any of my sad days. A few personal favorites of mine are "Modern Chemistry", "Autographs & Apologies", and "Shiver", they're some of the more slower songs on the album, but they're terrific. Something else that I've noticed with this band is that they're lyrics are different from most bands you hear crooning their hearts out to today. It's not the same old sappy "girl breaks up with boy" love/heartbreak song. For more upbeat happy songs, I always listen to "Capital H" or "Red Dress", both of those songs make me really peppy cause of the great rock sounds they have. I would have to say this album is one of the "must hear" albums, even if it takes you 50 years to do so, you'll be glad you did, or so I think you would be.
