MAKING APRIL

January 18, 2007
[interview by Alexa]

Estrella: Could you please state your name and what you do in the band?
Greg: Greg Federspiel - I play the bass guitar.

Estrella: How did all of your members meet?
Greg: We all grew up together in the same town, going to the same schools. Although, the band didn't start until we were all away at college.

Estrella: Biggest influences on your band?
Greg: Early influences came from NOFX and Green Day. Most recent influences come from Dashboard Confessional and Coldplay.

Estrella: What do you believe you would be doing if you weren't in a band?
Greg: It's hard to even imagine but since I just graduated college as a finance major, I'd probably be sitting behind a desk in a tiny cubical crunching numbers all day.

Estrella: This past November you were featured on MTV's hit series Laguna Beach, how did that whole process come about? Did MTV come to you or did you try to make your way to MTV? How exactly did your beautiful song get on the air?
Greg: To be honest, we really have no idea how our song found its way to MTV. One day, we were contacted by a company that selects music to be placed on certain network tv series. We still didnt believe it until the episode finally aired. It was pretty unreal.

Estrella: You have 60,000+ friends on your band's Myspace account, how do you feel about how Myspace has effected you as a band?
Greg: MySpace has helped our band indefinitely. It allowed us to reach over 10,000 fans before we had even played a show. It truly made us appreciate bands of 60s-80s that would grow in popularity solely by word of mouth and touring prior to the advent of the internet and myspace.

Estrella: Who writes most of the band's lyrics?
Greg: Sean writes all of the bands lyrics.

Estrella: Who produced your album and how long was the recording process?
Greg: Our album was recorded at Nada Studios in New Windsor, NY. It was produced by our friend John Naclerio and all 8 songs were recorded in only 10 days.

Estrella: Best Halloween costume you've ever worn.
Greg: 1970's Runner oufit with the shortest shorts ever. Walking around NYC with my butt cheeks hanging out was truly an experience.

Estrella: Favorite breakfast cereal.
Greg: Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Estrella: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what are 3 things you would take with you?
Greg: A Case Snapple Green Tea, An Inflatable Doll, and Jack Bauer

Estrella: Three bands that you would like to plug that you don't believe are getting enough attention.
Greg: Fetus Something, Nobody's Heroes, The Sawtooth Grin.

Estrella: Do you have any upcoming tour plans?
Greg: Yes, we are headed out on tour in March/April starting by playing a free showcase at South By South West in Austin, TX on March 17th. We will then head north into the Midwest and then up and down the East Coast.

Estrella: Upcoming future plans for the band.
Greg: Hopefully sign to a label and put out a full length album. In the meantime, we'll keep writing and touring.

Estrella: Any closing statements.
Greg: If you live remotely close to Austin, Tx, come to our free show on March 17th!!
