Jet Lag Gemini is nothing if not bold and crisp. The group hails from Bergen Country, New Jersey, but three of the four members are actually immigrants from Russia and Romania. The boys started playing together early in high school and over the years they have honed their sound to something that is uniquely catchy and unapologetic. Fire the Cannons their first full length artfully displays the groups versatility as well as their pure rock power.
The first track, Run This City, opens with a quick guitar rhythm before the listener is swept away by Misha Sarfonovs cocky/confident vocals. He comes across as a younger, less medicated Max Bemis. The lyrics in the album have a definitely adolescent feel, they are not especially inspired but are definitely something teens and young adults could easily relate to. Such as a line in The Bad Apples that goes is it just me or is your status sold at the mall or Theres something wrong with me, I havent been this clever in what feels like forever, in the track titled Doctor, Please!
However, what the band lacks lyrically they make up for in style. Jet Lag Gemini can definitely keep listeners entertained on a purely musical level. Guitar solos like the one at the beginning of Bittersweet are clean and exhilarating. Meanwhile, the strumming on Stepping Stone proves that the group can execute a slower ballad just as successfully as a wilder tune. They also do a great job of melancholy mystery in another track, Keep This With You, but nothing can rival their up-tempo songs, which the band wisely focuses on.
