Green Milk are a three piece experimental trio from Tokyo, Japan. The five songs on the album, large portions of which are available for download on their website, www.green-milk.com, are wonderful compositions from a genre that has little to no popular appeal. The albums “He’s Crying, Look” does not get caught up in it’s own sense of difference. Green Milk are not trying to be too weird to be listened to. They are taking this genre and expertly making an artistic expression with it. The longest track, “In the Space, Far Away From This Planet” Green Milk have created something otherworldly, starting off with a barrage of something that could be mistaken for Aphex Twin, they launch into a head-trip made much stronger by what isn’t there, than what is. These songs are defined by the atmosphere that they suggest. Not being a connoisseur of experimental music by any means, Green Milk are something different that isn’t different just to be weird, it’s different and cooler than anything else because of it. Think Sigur Ros, a little weirder and on a little heroin. Check out the section of their website that lists bands they like, that’s a good place to start.
