Estrella: Could you first tell us your name and what you do in the band?
Joe: I'm Joe and I play guitar in Fall Out Boy.
Estrella: How long has the band been together for?
Joe: We've been together for about two years now. Around.
Estrella: How do you like to tour?
Joe: It's pretty fun, you know. We just got off tour with Less Than Jake, we were home for almost three weeks and we came out for these five days and we didn't know what to expect but all the shows are really insane. Really packed. The kids are really enthusiastic. Very uplifting. It's nice to kind of end the year with a couple east coast dates at places we haven't played for in a while.
Estrella: So who are some of your influences?
Joe: As a band we're all influenced by The Cure, The Smiths, Saves The Day, Lifetime, and Elvis Costello, things of that nature. Then as far as my own, I listen to a lot of Mogwai, Modest Mouse, and other stuff like Give Up The Ghost and Shai Hulud, a lot of metal.
Estrella: Is that what you're currently listening to, stuff like that?
Joe: Well I have an I-Pod, so I have a million things that I listen to currently.
Estrella: So where are you guys from?
Joe: Were from the outsides of Chicago. Our drummer's [Andy] from Milwaukee and the rest of us live in the suburbs, around 15 minutes to Chicago.
Estrella: What's your craziest fan experience?
Joe: Just weird stuff is like people who follow me around at shows when I'm on the phone. It's kind of weird and kind of annoying. There's no one really like camping out in front of my house or anything. Everyone's pretty cool. Our fans are awesome
Estrella: What's your favorite song off of, "Take This To Your Grave?"
Joe: I like "The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes", that would be my favorite. It's my favorite to play, at least. So it's probably my favorite.
Estrella: What are you doing on New Year's Eve?
Joe: We're playing this acoustic thing at this party, then right after we do that I'm going to go home and go to sleep.
Estrella: What do you do in your spare time?
Joe: I play a lot of video games. If I'm at home, I actually, really don't leave my house, I really don't. I sit at my house all day and I'm just really happy like that.
Estrella: Do you have a Playstation in your van?
Joe: No. We all have our own personal electronic items. I don't think we'd share very well.
Estrella: How do you like playing Fletcher's?
Joe: We've played here a couple times. It's nice. It's really small but it's cool. I like shows like this more than shows with the barriers and stuff.
Estrella: Like arenas?
Joe: We've never played an arena. That's like 20,000 people. I don't think more than 100 people would come to see us.
Estrella: If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items with you?
Joe: Probably a can of tuna, a jar of mayo, and some slices of bread, so I could make tuna sandwiches.
Estrella: If all of your cds were to burn and you could only have one, who would you keep and why?
Joe: Probably Saves The Day "Stay What You Are", I know it's a more recent cd but I realized how much I love Saves The Day and that recently became my favorite Saves The Day record.
Estrella: Did you see them with Taking Back Sunday?
Joe: No, I was on tour. But I would have liked too. I've seen Saves The Day alot, they're very awesome.
Estrella: What do you think about Saves The Day's new cd?
Joe: I love Saves The Day's new cd. I think it sounds a lot beatle-ish. It just has this cool sound. I think a lot of people don't give it the credit it deserves. It's an awesome record.
Estrella: Elvis or The Beatles? And why?
Joe: The Beatles because I don't respect Elvis and The Beatles had many many awesome years of progression. I mean, if you listen to The Beatles from beginning to the end, if you had no idea that they were The Beatles, you would think they were two totally different bands. Elvis, for some reason I don't respect him, I couldn't start it, but The Beatles.
Estrella: How many more dates do you have left for this tour?
Joe: This is it. It's only a five day. I believe Catch-22 does this every year, where they have five days after Christmas all around the east coast.
Estrella: So what's your next tour going to be like?
Joe: We're doing a tour in February with Mest and Matchbook Romance. We're definitely coming to Philly. Not so sure about Baltimore or DC. We might be coming to DC, I'm not really sure and then after that we're going to Europe with Mest. Then we're taking off sometime I believe to record a record. We're going to play Skate and Surf. Then we're probably going to do some Warped dates but that's pretty far in advance with everything.
Estrella: What's your favorite city to play?
Joe: City to play? I like Chicago. I'd say New Jersey is really awesome. Cleveland is really awesome. There's a lot of places that are really amazing. Cleveland and New Jersey are some of the most energetic and enthusiatic. Albany, the second time playing there was really great. That was really really cool. I was very surprised everyone was really excited about our set, that was really cool. I don't know, I like so many places but I'd say Cleveland and New Jersey are definitely tagged for two of my favorites.
Estrella: Do you have any advice for anyone who's trying to get big and known?
Joe: Don't play White Power music.
Estrella: Any closing statements for anyone who is reading this if they are?
Joe: Don't do heroin because you're always addicted for life, it doesn't matter if you're off it or not.
