Estrella: What's your name and what do you do in the band?
Chris: My name is Chris and I play drums for DCsquared, my brother Dave plays guitar and sings, and our Oregonian pet Mike plays bass guitar.
Estrella: Who picked the name DCsquared as your band name?
Chris: Myself and the original members of DCsquared picked the name.
Estrella: Is there any meaning behind the name?
Chris: There was meaning, the old members and I had some cool clubs and creations, and we named them all after our initials "DCC" so when we started a band, it was essential to title it what it is. There is no meaning now, we just have fun.
Estrella: Who writes most of your songs, both lyrically and music wise?
Chris: Dave writes most of the lyrics and all the guitar, he shows his stuff to us, and we give our input that we think will add most to it. In the end everyone is satisfied and we have a cool song.
Estrella: Do you know how Dave finds inspiration for the lyrics?
Chris: Dave could find inspiration in a kiwi. I'm not sure how Dave finds inspiration for the songs, usually they're about stuff that he sees or thinks or what happens to him. Alot of people can relate to his lyrics, so whatever it does it works.
Estrella: Who are some of your influences? And what have they taught you in being apart of a band, if anything?
Chris: We all have our own heroes and our own music that influence us and our music. The most I think we have learned is just to have fun, because if you're not having fun why would you do it? You know, eh?
Estrella: Who are you currently listening to?
Chris: The Hometeam, a kickass band that we love to play with, we haven't had the chance to lately but I hope we get more shows with them soon.
Estrella: What do you like most about being apart of a band?
Chris: Playing music with my brother and our Oregonian pet. It's neat.
Estrella: How do you like your fans, do you have any really good stories about them? If so, what are some if you don't mind me asking?
Chris: We have this one fan that is so awesome. We finished playing our set at the Battle of the Bands Exposure Tour at the Palladium in Worcester and she comes up to me and is all like "Hey werd! You homies got demos!?" and I was all up in her grill with them. That was cool enough all on its own because someone wanted our demo, but this chick took it a step further, she found out when our next show was and desperately found a ride an hour and a half from her house just to see us. We were so happy that we hugged her and I think we scared her away, maybe she'll be at the next show.
Estrella: What is the band doing right now, I mean as in touring/doing many shows, working on a cd, etc?
Chris: Right now DCsquared is looking for any shows possible. I am at school, but I will find rides home for shows. We are hoping to do weekend tours this summer of New England. And we are also hoping to record during Christmas break at Causeless Riot Records in New York.
Estrella: Do you have any advice to give to anyone who maybe reading this?
Chris: Hmmm, advice for bands? I don't feel like anyone should listen to what I think about... but just have fun, that all, if you have fun the people watching have fun, and if they don't, you still had fun. Advice for not bands (and bands as well) come to a dcsquared show - we'll give you your money's worth.
Estrella: Any closing statements.
Chris: Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to do this with me and thanks to everyone who comes out to the shows and has fun with us. Thanks to my mom and dad for doing it, twice, and thanks to that chick who traveled far to see us.
